The Reckoning of the Winter Rider: Team Oregon Starts the Spring Oregon Bicycle Racing Season Strong.

Portland, Ore. April 27, 2009. Whether you're the type that secludes yourself in a room with a television and a fan and a set of rollers for the winter (and stays warm) or the more courageous type that continues to explore the West Hills even when it's too cold for the dogs to come out and bark at you (but keeps his climbing legs), the spring racing season is a time of reckoning for all.

"Good Legs? We'll see..."

Tim Krabbé asks of his novel's character in The Rider the same question most riders ask of themselves every time they head off for a moment in the saddle. By early season results, Team Oregon spent their winter well; all racing categories, including both women's and men¹s are seeing consistent results at the spring classics of the Pacific Northwest. Behind the scenes, the team has also spent the winter seeing team growth, both in numbers and expanding relationships outside of the Portland area.

At the beginning of 2009, Team Oregon and Gilad Gozlan, the owner of Life Cycle Bike Shop and director of the Life Cycle racing team, both based in Eugene, began a discussion of how to merge common interests in team management. By incorporating the Life Cycle team into Team Oregon, while Gilad continues to sponsor and support his local racers through his shop, both groups have experienced a more streamlined approach to team racing in Oregon. The new relationship will also enable Team Oregon to better fulfill its mission of reaching cyclists beyond the immediate Portland area.

"Team Oregon has seen some great success in this early spring at Oregon Bicycle Racing Association races, with multiple wins in all categories" says Jim Anderson, President, "We are continuing to grow and having a fantastic partner in Eugene with Life Cycle bike shop and Gilad Gozlan will continue to help grow our program."

Itching for new adventures, yeah? If you live in Eugene, look up Gilad and the Life Cycle Bike Shop (www.lifecyclebikeshop.com). For more details about Team Oregon, the Saturday (no drop policy) ride can't be beat; you'll meet team members and perhaps discover a new route into the hills; www.teamoregon.org.
